The speech of Teacher Ratana who is the founder of khmer Art Leather carving center at Bakong, Siem Reap, Cambodia. He tells about his story before he created the orphanage.
The description by teacher Ratana about the school of Khmer Art Leather Carving in Siem Reap, Cambodia. He was orphaned when he was young and had to feed and take of his 3 younger brothers by helping his grandmother sell cakes and doing any odd jobs he could find. After he learnt the art of leather carving for 5 years, he started Little Angels Orphanage. Currently, he feeds around 75 poor and orphaned children from near and far off villages; while teaching them Cambodia”s traditional art of leather carving and making sure they all attend public school in the village. He hopes that all those kids can get a better future when they leave Little Angels. Many of the children who have left, benefited from Teacher Ratana’s care and guidance. They are now having better jobs and have become successful in their life. Thanks to the many people who have helped Teacher Ratana in so many ways in his 16 years since opening the home, there will be undoubtedly, a ray of hope for the all the children at Little Angels Orphanage and Khmer Art Center. For the way that he has cared for so many, friends from all over the world know and support Ratana’s hopes and dreams for his Little Angels.
